The life expectancy of an oil tank is 25 years. How old is your tank? 

Customers own their tanks and are responsible for maintaining and replacing them. We have seen many tanks that are old or out of compliance with NFPA 31 Standards. When a tank fails, it may not be covered by your homeowner’s insurance and the cost of cleanup is quite costly. The State of NH DES has several resources that can help you, the homeowner, learn what to do to prevent a spill or rupture.
